Jupiter

Jupiter is the fifth planet in the solar system and it is a gas giant with a mass is 1000 that of the sun but its two and a half time is all of the other planet in the solar system.  Jupiter has very faint ring system but it is totally invisible from the earth. It is one of the brightest objects that visible to naked eye in the night sky and it is largest planet in the solar system more than twice as massive as compare to other planets. It strips and swirls are cold, windy clouds of ammonia and water. Jupiter possesses 62 known satellites. The cloud-tops lightning bolts is similar to the super bolts in earth high atmosphere.

History

Jupiter is believed to be discovered by Galileo Galilee. But it is also known as Jove. It is discovered in 1610. It is a king of the gods in roman mythology but he was the god of sky and thunder. It is a chief dirty of roman state religion through the republican and imperial eras. Thought the universe there are many planetary systems similar to ours. This indicates that our own solar system should also have these types of planets and it is hypothesized but they collided with Jupiter in the early formation of the solar system. Jupiter took shape when the rest of the solar system formed about 4.5 billion years ago when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust in to become this gas giant. Among the many gods Romans Jupiter the son of Saturn was the supreme god associated with thunder, lightning and storms. Rome believed that they were watched over by the spirits of their ancestors and they added a triad of god to these spirits.

Composition

Jupiter is a non-terrestrial planet in the solar system and its atmosphere is made up of hydrogen gas and helium gas like the sun. The planet is covered in thick red, brown, yellow and white clouds. Its mass is 1.900e+27 kg and its mean distance is 1033 gm. The atmosphere of Jupiter is making up the entire planet. The gas giant has no firm surface to touch down on. Its equatorial radius is 71,492 km and its magnitude is -2.70 VO. Its two and half time more massive than all the other planets in the solar system combined and it is made primarily of gases. So it is known as gas giant. Jupiter rotational period is 0.41354 days and its orbital period is 4332.71 days. Scientist think that at depths perhaps halfway to the planets center and the pressure becomes so great that electrons are squeezed off the hydrogen atoms making the liquid electrically conducting like metal.

Relation with solar system

The distance between Jupiter to sun is 768.39 million km and the radius of the sun is 696,340 km. But the distance between mars to sun is 209.84 million km and the sun occupies 0.00001% of volume. But the mars volume is 16.318 of the sun. The Venus planet is 108 million km from the sun. The closest planet is mercury which has a 0.4 AU unit from the sun and the most distance planet is Neptune which has a 30 AU from the sun. The distance from venues is approximately 0.33 AU farther out from the sun than mercury whereas Saturn is 4.3 AU out from the Jupiter and Neptune lies 10.5 AU out from Uranus.

Some amazing facts

1. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system at nearly 11 times the size of earth and 317 times its mass.

2. Jupiter is the fastest spinning planet in the solar system.

3. Jupiter magnetic field is 14 times stronger than earth.

4. Jupiter has 79 moons.

5. Jupiter has a large red spot which is almost equal to the size of the Earth and it's size is increasing constantly.
